Humanitarian Work

Free Indian Gov-Approved Primary School

Under the guidance of Ven. Dr. Talammahara Siri Visuddhi Nayaka Thero, Sri Lankaramaya runs a fully charity-sponsored primary school for children from local villages who would otherwise lack access to formal education.

Approved by the government, the school provides a comprehensive curriculum taught by qualified educators. We completely fund and provide:

  • Free tuition and learning materials
  • School uniforms and footwear
  • Nutritious midday meals
  • Regular healthcare check-ups

Educating the Future

Free Education for Village Kids

By educating these children, Sri Lankaramaya hopes to lift families out of poverty and foster a harmonious, educated society in Kaushambi. This service is made possible solely by the kind donations of our global patrons.

Dhamma Services

Spiritual Programs & Chants

The temple is a center for meditation and learning. Monks resident at Sri Lankaramaya conduct daily chanting sessions, guided meditation classes, and Buddhist discussions for both visiting groups and locals.

Daily Morning & Evening Chants

Join our resident monks in reciting protective suttas (Pirith) to invoke blessings and peace.

Vassa (Rainy Season Retreat)

Special spiritual and Dhamma programs are conducted during the three-month rain retreat, continuing an ancient Buddhist monastic tradition.

Guidelines for Pilgrim Groups

To maintain the sanctity of the temple grounds, we request all guests and pilgrims to follow these simple rules:

  • Dress modestly: Clothing should cover shoulders and knees. White or light-colored attire is traditionally preferred.
  • Remove shoes and hats before entering the shrine rooms or Bodhi tree premises.
  • Maintain silence: Please speak softly inside lodging quarters and near meditation zones.
  • Travel connectivity: Make use of the newly launched direct bus service between Kaushambi and Sarnath. Buses operate daily and are highly recommended.
